The historical center of Desenzano is a rare treasure, rich in historical spots to be discovered:
Villa Romana: Come to light in 1921, it is the most important testimony of late antiquity villas in Northern Italy. Dating back to the I century B.C., a few steps from the lake, has been now refurbished with its 240 sq of marvelous polychrome mosaics.
The Castle: The castle, which dominates the whole town of Desenzano, has been recently recovered after two months of changes and renovations. Climbing its top, one can admire one of the best panoramas on Lake Garda.
Il Duomo: The local Duomo was built between the 1586 and 1611. Its façade features baroque decorative elements, whilst its interior offers beautiful late Renaissance elements. Internally, some artistic works of great value are safeguarded such as L’Ultima Cena by Tiepolo, dating back to 1738.
Piazza Malvezzi: The beautiful square of Desenzano was built around the VI century. Colonnades and historical buildings animate this center which encloses in itself the soul of this city.
The tower of San Martino della battaglia: This majestic tower, built in order to pay homage to king Vittorio Emanuele II and all those who fought for the unification of Italy, lies in a large park on the hill of San Martino. From its top, it is possible to enjoy a breathtaking panorama over the surrounding areas.
